History

Modern energy drinks first appeared in Europe and Asia in the 1960s, but the first to become available in the United States was Red Bull® in 1997.

Energy drinks are still a relatively new beverage category — but one that is growing rapidly as new products constantly emerge.

Today’s energy drinks are as varied as the preferences of the people who consume them. Energy drinks are being created with many different formulations geared to meeting the tastes and demands of different consumers – everyone from college students to corporate executives.
